Financial Aid and Tuition Assistance

Bishop Carroll Catholic High School is committed to providing a high-quality, Christ-centered education for all who seek it. By offering several forms of financial aid and tuition assistance, we can help as many eligible students as possible achieve their goal of obtaining a dynamic, values-based education.

Tuition Payment Flexibility

Tuition for the 2008-09 school year was $5,400 per student. Opportunities existed for $3,100 in financial aid and tuition assistance, and reduced the fee to $2,300.

With flexible payment plans customized to accommodate individual circumstances, your child could earn a high-quality Catholic education for as little as:

  • $1,150 per semester
  • $575 per quarter
  • $256 per month
  • $64 per week

or

  • About $9 per day Based on a 9 month schedule

For payment plan options, contact Jerry Stephens, CEO at 814.472.7500 ext. 107 or by e-mail at ceo@bishopcarroll.com

Financial aid/scholarship opportunities include:

The Second Century Scholarship Fund

The Second Century Scholarship Fund supports students with financial need who are enrolled in a Catholic pre-school, elementary school or high school within the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. For the 2009-10 school year, more than $300,000 in Second Century Scholarship funds helped make a Catholic education affordable for 91 BCCHS students. A Private School Aid Service (PSAS) application must be completed to be eligible for Second Century Scholarship funds (see back for details)

Diocesan Scholarships

The average Diocesan Scholarship amount for 2008-09 school year was $2,645. Families with two or more students enrolled in a Diocesan Catholic school need to complete only one application. Families with multiple students enrolled at Bishop Carroll may receive more than one scholarship. The family must be a member of a parish in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese in order to be eligible for a Diocesan Scholarship. A PSAS application must be completed to be eligible for Diocesan Scholarships.

Alumni Scholarships

Ranging from $500 to $1,500 dollars, Alumni Scholarships from the Bishop Carroll Alumni Association are awarded annually, allowing BC Alumni to help continue the school’s tradition of high-quality Catholic education. All students are welcome to apply and you need not belong to a Diocesan Parish to receive Alumni Scholarships. A PSAS application must be completed to be eligible for Alumni Scholarships. For additional information contact the Alumni Office at 814.472.7500 extension 104.

Misciagna Challenge

Established through the generosity of Mr. Anthony Misciagna and supported by the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, the Misciagna Challenge is a non-profit scholarship program providing financial assistance to motivated students, enabling them to choose a value-centered Catholic learning environment. The program includes mentoring and support. Non-Catholic students are invited to apply.
